Tour de COhio
June 6th - Boone, CO to Ordway, CO
Days 1 and 2 - June 5th and 6th, 2005
Monday, 19:40 MST. Day 2.
Day one was something special. One wrong turn, too little H2O for me, too much sun, plus two flats. One on my rear tire and one on Dave (Big Goot) P's trailer. However, all was conquered and we rode 71 miles to Boone, CO where we camp at the village park. We got in late and the store was closed, but I saw the man go in to do something and I went in to ask him if we could get something and he obliged. Lots of cats all around the park – begging and, later, fighting.
The second day (today) started off with breakfast consisting of chili mac for Gary followed by pancakes for the same and myself with Mr. Goot eating his energy bars. We got riding about 9:25 and soon met Deb (Dave P's wife), who Big Goot called the night before to have her bring us some inner tubes due to our flats (from yesterday) (damn Texas tacks, a little thorn that's tough and notorious for flat tires). After our rendezvous, we got going again and made Olney Springs, CO by about 11:30 am – Jada's Olney Springs Cafe – great food!
After lunch, we traveled on to Ordway, CO where we camped (are camping) behind JR's grocery / diner, in an RV campground with H2O and electricity – no showers. Only one RV – just pulled in about 7:20 pm.
103.30 miles so far, so 71 yesterday, 32 today. We plan 65 miles tomorrow and the next day.
So until the next entry – later.
