Tour de COhio
June 10th - Scott City, KS to Ness City, KS
Day 6 - June 10th, 2005
Today, (6-10) we had headwinds and crosswinds and hills – long gradual ones. We still maintained 10 – 12 mph most of the time. We passed a young lady twice close to our break period (which she did not take). When we got to Scott City, we were at a convenience store and along rode the young lady and stopped to talk to us. She ended up camping with us this night while Big Goot went to the Derrick Inn Motel for the room and shower – the latter of which he shared graciously the next A.M. It rained pretty hard early evening, but soon cleared off to a beautiful star-filled night.
Oh yeah, the young lady's name is Lindsay. I don't know her last name (my writing sucks because gnats are bothering me and I keep swatting at them – ow! Damn bugs. Where's a gecko when ya need one?). Anyway, she's a sweet, pretty young lass of 25 with a free spirit you don't run into much anymore. The night proved to be a little exciting when some of Ness City's rowdy youths decided to yell at the bikers and throw sticks at their tents. Lindsay and I both heard the talking and a bottle hitting something, and Lindsay said something hit her tent (a stick, I think). We both unzipped our tents simultaneously and peeked our heads out – she looked like she was gonna kick someone's ass! I went out and walked around the city park we were in (with permission) and they had taken off.
No more problems the rest of the night.
