Tour de COhio
June 19th - New Franklin, MO (Katy Roundhouse) to Jefferson City, MO
Day 15 - June 19th, 2005
Pedaled 45 miles today to Jefferson City, MO (state capital). Knew of a bed and breakfast that offered camping so we crossed the river from N. Jefferson to Jefferson City itself to find the B&B. We did just that – it's on on W. High Street – called the Jefferson Inn. We camped (are camping) in the lady's backyard about 1/2 block from the B&B (where we showered and shaved). It's good we're not right at the B&B outside 'cause it's next to the freeway – too noisy – much quieter here. We ate at the Arris' Pizzeria – your typical Greek-run Italian restaurant. Good food though, not too expensive – right across the street from the state capitol building – a huge monstrosity, makes the Columbus, OH capitol building look dinky.
This city is very hilly with no skyscrapers and has a very old time feel to it, especially in its architecture. Friendly people, like everywhere so far. No rain, hot, humid. Oh, yeah – we ate breakfast in Rocheport, MO at the Trailside Cafe. Also good food – Rocheport is cool – there's a tunnel and bluffs.
Well, we now have 864 miles behind us. Tomorrow we'll have over 900 miles.
