Tour de COhio
June 22nd - Pere Marquette S.P., IL (rest day)
Day 18 - June 22nd, 2005
Layover day – one word – HOT! - Thank goodness the lodge has a/c – where Bo is now – and we all were mere minutes ago. Big Goot rests now, MP3 in use (see picture w/Bo reading the paper also – whole camp area), it's about 6:30 pm or so. We will be leaving this fine and lovely state park at about 5 or 6:00 am in order to beat the ungodly – stifling heat and humidity – 91º or 2-3 today (and) super humidity!
I haven't hiked yet, but Bo and I did ride the seven miles into Grafton about 11:00 am or so, in order to spray off bikes at a car wash and eat a bite. We went as slow as possible and were drenched with sweat when we got back.
I'm watching some asshole dragging a log from the woods with his van – these two guys are drunk as shit – you know how hot I said it was – and they have a full fledged blaze r going – now they're arguing – this could get really entertaining.
The other tent somewhere near us has a young couple that woke up the Goot Man early this a.m. With various grunts, groans and other such appropriate sound effects associated with sexual pleasure. I heard nothing – sleeping I was! Bo reported hearing no such noises either – we're just lucky, I guess.
We were told a good way to hit Route 16 tomorrow and avoid steep hills, thanks to a guy in a saloon in town – now the above mentioned asshole is driving his nasty van through the freaking yard again past our site with his rich-running engine that keeps stalling and smoking up the damn place! Oh, well - state park camping.
Holy shit – they only went to the bathroom – about 100 yards away!!!
Man, it's hot! (see pic – me writing and sweating with Bo in background)
Well, guess I'll clean up – shave and join Bo in the a/c lounge – ahh, life is good.

P.S. Well, my rear tent pole broke – we were sitting here and Bo noticed it looked funny – not funny – broke – but I cut a sapling and used it instead – working well – but I'll either have to take it (the sapling) or hope to cut one every night I camp – it's about three or four feet long – such is the nature of adventure – all will be well.
